82.2 The Descendants of a Dragon Slayer

The genuine concern Ceries-sama is expressing makes me feel terrible. I’m really sorry for lying. I’m really sorry for keeping this a secret. Honestly, I’m the one who should be apologizing.

“Ye- yeah, that technique did send the magic beast flying, but I wasn’t hurt.”

The Boisterous Dragon Spear Dance, I’ve no doubt that is a technique for indiscriminately hurling dragon spears in every direction. At any rate, even just a single dragon spear has an outrageous amount of destructive power.

“Then, the magical beast was defeated before we arrived?” (Slatton)
“That’s what happened.”
“Then why the heck did you all run away for?”

Ristia and I make wry smiles at Slatton’s retort.

“That may have been because of me. My elder sisters probably ran away thinking I would be angry at them.” (Ceries)

Ceries-sama’s sullen appearance makes me want to tell her, “In truth, it was to get information about me.”

Nn, what to say…

I suppose they could have asked me about everything then and there. Instead, they chose to flee and make their inquiries hidden away inside a locked room. That means the twin ojou-sama have no intention of revealing my secret to anyone else. With those thoughts in mind, I feel like I’m telling a lie right now.

“Hahaan, so that’s why you were hiding. You were doing obscene things with the twin ojou-sama.” (Slatton)
“I- I wasn’t! You’re misunderstanding!”

What the heck are you saying, Slatton? I’d never do anything obscene.

While I am getting flustered, Ceries-sama grabs my shoulders.

“If you lay your hands on a member of the royal family, you will have to properly take responsibility. As they are my older sisters, please think and act prudently.”
“Ye- yes!”

I shrink back against Ceries-sama’s vigor.

“So then, did you lay a hand on them?”
“L-Like I said, I didn’t. When you and Ristia came, I was properly holding back.”
“Really? It looked like you were having fun holding them to me.” (Ristia)
“Yo- You’re terrrrriible!”

I scream out at Ristia’s unexpected betrayal. Then, at the sight of me, everyone bursts out laughing.

Gununu, they’re all making fun of me.

“Any way,”
I change the topic away from myself to signal the end of my teasing.

“Ceries-sama said dragon technique earlier. Just why is it the twin ojou-sama can use dragon techniques? I thought dragon techniques where techniques of the Dragon Tribesmen.”
“Hoee, Erneacchi is quite informed.” (Neimie)
“No, I’m asking because I don’t know.”

Neimie cheeks swell up as she shoves Slatton aside.

“Seriously, you don’t know?” (Neimie?)
“What?”
“We of the royal family have been able to use dragon techniques for generations.”
“Eeehh!”

That’s my first time hearing that.
At my surprise, everyone bursts out with laugher again.

“Uugh, you don’t have to laugh that much, do you?”

“My apologies, but that would be the case. Those not usually involved with the royal family wouldn’t know.” (Ceries)
“Aah, I most likely wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t gone on an adventure together with Ceries.” (Slatton)

Mumumu, it can’t be helped that I don’t know?

“Become disgruntled for I will properly explain it.” (Slatton)
“Maybe instead of Slatton, Ristia and Ceries-sama should be the ones to explain.” (Ernea)
“Don’t be so direct.”

Fufun, getting a shot of payback at Slatton clears up my mood a bit.

“Ernea, you’re familiar with the story about founders of the Armand Kingdom and Jortenitost Kingdom, right?”

I nod to Ristia’s question. Of course I know it. I’m positive I know more of the truth than Ristia and everyone else too.

“Do you believe humans who couldn’t even scratch Mazoku would have an easy time taking down the Decaying Dragon King?”
“When you put it like that, I guess it would be intense.”

In fact, Old Sleigstar and the Dragon Tribesmen were also involved.

“By the way, don’t you think it’s strange that there is only one holy sword even though they were twins?”
“Mumumu.”

I’ve never thought about it, but now that it’s been brought up, that is strange. The twins Armand and Jortenitost should have both played an active role during that event, yet there was only one holy sword. That doesn’t make sense.

“Dragon techniques, that is the answer.”

Unable to understand the logic behind Ristia’s words, I tilt my head.
That is when Ceries-sama begins to explain.

“Armand and Jortenitost, they are said to have been versed with dragon techniques.”
“Wh- What was thaat?”

That’s my first time hearing that.

“The younger brother Jortenitost was able to freely keep pace with the Dragon Tribe by making use of dragon techniques. You could say he is the founder of our modern day Dragon Knights, wa.” (Ceries)
“Meanwhile, the older brother Armand is said to have tempered his body to the limit using dragon techniques. He wielded the holy sword with that transcendental power.” (Ristia)
“Maybe that’s why, but the descendants of Armand are born with the innate ability to use dragon techniques.”

“If you say that, then perhaps Ceries-sama can use them too?” (Ernea)
“Yes, although my strength doesn’t come anywhere close to what my elder sisters can achieve.”

Ceries makes a somewhat bitter smile. In truth, she wants to support Ristia with greater power. That is the ambiance she gives off.

At any rate, I didn’t know any of that. Turns out a Human Tribesman other than me, someone I personally know, has dragon power. There is a preconceived notion that the Human Tribe does not possess dragon power, so I never thought to look around for anyone with it. Ceries-sama doesn’t expect me to have any either, so I don’t think she will notice.

But now that I was told otherwise, I secretly examine Ceries-sama’s dragon power. I certainly can detect a trace amount of dragon power.

“To be able to use dragon techniques, those of royal blood truly are incredible.”
That is my honest opinion.

“No, just being able to use it…”
Ceries-sama doesn’t sound very spirited.

“While it can be said I can use dragon techniques, I am still a member of the Human Tribe. Without knowing how to handle nor train it, I cannot improve my strength.”
“Ehh?”

That surprises me.

“The founder-sama was well versed with dragon techniques, right? Then, shouldn’t he have passed a lot of it down? Also, if it’s dragon techniques, can’t you ask the Dragon Tribesmen?”
“Your doubts are valid. It’s just…” (Ristia)

Risita hesitates.

“To be frank, the number of dragon techniques usable drops with each passing generation. With that said, dragon techniques are passed down orally and many have been lost.” (Ceries?)

Fumumu, dragon techniques are an oral tradition? I think it would be simple to leave behind a book or something though.

“Furthermore, the Dragon Tribesmen will refrain from instructing us of the Human Tribe in the way of dragon techniques.” (Ceries)
“I- I see. They must have said, ‘We don’t want the Human Tribe to use our techniques,’ or something like that.”
“Exactly right.”

Ceries-sama nods.

Well, I suppose no one would willingly teach the advantages of one’s tribe to outsiders. In that case, I, who am being taught how to progress forward, am blessed with a wonderful environment.

“But, then, how are the twin ojou-sama able to use such a high leveled dragon technique?”
“Ahh, about that,”

Ristia makes a wry smile.

Those two are brilliant adventurers. They must have picked it up during the middle of their various dangerous quests.”
“Eeehhhh!”

At the unexpected answer, I am once again surprised.

T/N: I still don’t those twin princesses.
