The Start of Her Return (2)

Huh?

Though my stats, including SSA, which meant Stamina, Strength, and Agility, had fallen to a tenth of what it had been, my titles, although partially erased, were still there. ‘Re▇▇▇▇ed Player’ was a title I had not seen before. And what does ‘locked’ mean? It was the first time I had seen such status abnormalities. Was it a system error? Could errors exist in this system?

“The average of an adult male is 10. If anyone has a value that’s above 10, please let me know!”

“My, my strength is 13.”

“Mine is in dexterity.”

One by one, people bravely came forward and shared their stats. Even though my stats had fallen, my stats were nearly all over 10… I kept quiet. It was not normal for a female student who had just completed her college entrance exam to have the agility stats of 34.

“Is there anyone with Unique Skills?”

No one answered his question. Anyone with Unique Skills would have been a trainee hunter. I might have declared that I had a skill back then, but there was no need for me to say that now. I have just recalled – this place would eventually become meaningless.

Because…

“Everyone, back away from the walls.” I spoke shortly.

Those who heard looked at me with curiosity as they seemed to wait for an explanation but more words would be a luxury. I then picked up a dinner knife lying around in the storage room. My sudden defensive position brought stirs of nervousness.

“Wait, you student over there. What are you…”

“I said, back away from the walls!”

The people finally moved after I shouted as I wielded a weapon in one hand. They were gathered in the center of the storage room and I stood before them. The man who assumed the role of the leader came up and tried to talk to me.

“Wait. Please calm down…”

“It’s coming to us, so either grab a weapon or stay behind.”

“What?”

“Quickly!”

-CLANG!

A roar tore through the air almost the same time when I yelled.

As cracks formed on the walls, they started to crumble. Another loud thud sounded, and they could see it now see through the gaps in the rubbles.

“Ah… Aahhhhh!”

That searching, gleaming eye was as massive as the average human height. Could you imagine the horror of making eye contact with that giant eye?

A Grade F Earth General.

Although it was a normal level monster, it was a threat big enough for the common person. I looked down at the kitchen knife in my hand and its blade glinted under the light like it was just unwrapped. Thankfully the item verification window was still the same. I quickly took a quick glance at it.

[Verifying item.]

Grade: F

Attack: 15

Description: A standard kitchen knife, with no other advantages other than its well-sharpened blade.

It was indeed sloppy. But this was definitely better than having nothing to defend myself with, so oh well.

“Are you… a hunter?”

“As if.”

“Then how did you know to step back…?!”

It was getting louder in the room as the others started to murmur. I lightly pushed a male, probably in his mid-20s, backward. It was easy for me to push him back due to my strength stat of 15, which was more substantial than the average adult male. In that short period, the wall had almost entirely crumbled down, and the earth general held up its brutal looking pincer. The group of people barely managed to swallow their fearful screams.

The monster’s sturdy outer shell wasn’t the type to be pierceable with a mere kitchen knife. In the first place, the earth general’s average height was at a towering 15 meters. So even if an average human tried wielding a knife at it, it would only make a scratch on its toe.

But I stood at the most forefront. Everyone else just looked at me from behind.

The earth general had been making eye contact with me all the while. It did not hesitate one bit and started to brandish its front pincer at me even though it was not fast enough due to its heavy pincer. If you kept your eyes on it, it would be easy to avoid. For me, that is.

THUD! THUD! THUD!

As it swung its pincer about, the ground cracked, and the walls were smashed. I carefully lured the general as I made sure to keep the ceiling from collapsing. Although the earth general was ridiculously thick and robust, that muscle-filled bulky physique was a burden to itself. After it brandished its pincer three times, it had to take a short rest.
