Not all of them were good, but it was enough. Maybe Ranhee could say that because she was someone loved and had also achieved some kind of success, but she lived because of someone’s hospitality even in extreme loneliness.

“It’s similar here. The frame repeats, but the people that live within that frame live their lives. They don’t realize that the world repeats. If the problem is solved, it’ll return to normal. To them, this world or yours won’t be that much different.”

Ella nodded. The world was quite peculiar, according to his explanation. After coming over and experiencing this world, she felt that the people were no different from Ranhee. Everyone had their own problems and feelings. She faced them on all kinds of occasions and began to think they weren’t just characters from the book.

Now, Luciella’s family was her real family. She wouldn’t have thought of them in such a way if she thought they were just some characters from the book. Ella remembered the people she had met. From her loving family to the people in the slums. They all lived in different worlds, but they were all people. It was like a person living in another country.

‘She’s more active than I’ve heard.’

He smiled after hearing Ella’s thoughts as he was thrilled to feel the love she had for those people. She wasn’t only smart. He understood why everyone suggested that place as a last resort.

‘How nice it would be if we could acquire such souls in a stable manner.’

He became greedy and asked, “Do you want to stay here after you’ve solved this problem?”

His words that he threw joyfully shocked Ella. She then responded, “W-what? Can I go back?”

“Of course. You’re a guest. A guest should return. You can stay here if you would like, but that would require…”

The man became excited as he began to explain, but Ella was shocked by a thought she had given up on. She hadn’t thought about returning to Earth where her people were. Ella then asked, “How can I solve it? What are the conditions to solving this problem? Can I really go back?”

Ella jumped from her seat while shouting some questions. The man, however, realized his mistake and froze. He was angry at himself for saying something stupid. He was also furious at her for talking about the issue as if it was easy to solve. This problem wasn’t something that could be easily talked about. It had occurred countless times, and there was a chance it could appear again.

“Why? Do you want to deal with it quickly and return home? We weren’t paid by the guest. Instead, we paid to bring the guest here. Why do you think that is? Forget it if you thought you could just go back so easily. You’re an expensive guest.”

‘Am I some slave who was sold off?’ wondered Ella.

Although he was frustrated that such an expensive guest wanted to return, the guest who was dragged into this wasn’t feeling good either. She was sold by some unknown being. There was no way she would feel great about it. She couldn’t understand why he was saying such a thing so proudly.

‘A watcher of the world can do that?’ But that’s unfair.’

Soon, she began to feel irritated. The man read Ella’s feelings and let out a long sigh, got up to her, sat on the table, and looked into her eyes. She turned away with a sulky expression, and the man turned her face to meet her eyes. Then, he showed her an expression that said he was giving up.

“I’m sorry. We’re in an emergency, so bear with me. You also saw those insanities. Our world has crumbled repeatedly. I can’t go into the details, but you’re our last hope. If something like that happens again, we have no choice but to fall.”

His darkened expression seemed tired. It seemed he was truly sick and tired. The fear that the problem might not get solved seemed to dwell deep within him.

“Last hope?” asked Ella.

“Last hope,” repeated the man.
