Ella felt that Xyle was running away but let him be. Maybe she had to change her relationship with him. The reason she could push him to act according to her calculations and sway him when she first met him was that he was an adult who can think on his own accord. She had trusted that he was greedy, had a calculating mind, and could think for himself. But it was different now.

‘He really can’t refuse.’

Her concerns turned out to be true. Xyle couldn’t resist her. It was thanks to the buff that Didi had mentioned guests having. Thanks to the buff, it allowed guests to be liked and not pushed aside. As a result, guests were able to win the hearts of others easily.

The reason Xylem was able to fend off Clara was that his feelings of disdain for Clara were stronger than her buff. Despite that, if Clara didn’t leave for the Academy and kept coming to him, she might have succeeded in winning over his heart.

‘A buff that makes him fall in love with Clara, who he despises so much.’

It wasn’t used intentionally, but she didn’t feel good about using a cheat code that shouldn’t have been used. Ella reminded herself of Xylem who tried to reject her, which discomforted her.

‘So that grand rejection was actually a hollow wall?’ She didn’t have the courage to tap on his hollow wall anymore.

“Yeah. We’ll postpone the matter of the Tear of Ceiling until it appears. Instead, we must have a discussion regarding the drought. Things have gotten a bit complicated.”

Ella had no courage, so she decided to run away as well. She stashed the compass in her pocket and boldly began to move out of the alleyway. Xyle then held her wrist and asked, “What about the dragon child?”

“He’s not coming today. He’ll come in two months. We have to gather the materials that can get him back to normal before then. We’ll be busy.”

“Get him back to normal? What do you mean?”

“We can’t talk that long here.”

“Then, we should return to the tower.”

Ella quickly held Xyle’s hand as he was about to move straight for the tower. She didn’t feel comfortable speaking to him alone at the tower right now. Quickly, she remembered a place where they weren’t alone but could speak to each other.

“Let’s go somewhere else.”

“Where?” questioned Xyle.

“A place full of very delicious stuff.” Ella regretted what she said soon after. Her plan initially was to head to Montblanc, where she went with Cullan, but her outfit held her back.

‘I can’t go there looking like this.’

After thinking about it long and hard, Ella turned in the direction of a small restaurant on the outskirts of the capital. It was past lunchtime, so the small restaurant was very quiet. They sat at the corner.

Xyle glanced down at the hard bread and the bland-looking soup in front of him, looked at Ella with a look of protest, and asked, “This is very delicious?”

“Hahaha,” laughed Ella awkwardly and turned away. She tried to tell him that the food was alright, but this was her first time here too, so she couldn’t claim that confidently.

“I can’t go to the Sulim streets in these clothes. I am a Constance, after all. I can’t do something that will draw unwanted attention.”

“And that will hold you back,” Xyle said with a serious tone in his voice.

Just like how he was tied to the Magical Tower, Ella, too, was tied to her family. He couldn’t understand why she was concerned about them when they weren’t her real family. He was worried that the Constances, who were nobles, might hold her back eventually.

Ella, however, smiled and nodded as if she was fortunate for that. “Yes, they’re holding me back already. If it weren’t for them, you probably would be holding me in your arms right now.”

“What do you mean? Did he do something to you?”

Xyle’s voice turned vicious at once. He was almost about to run straight to Didi, so Ella quickly waved her hands to stop him, “No, I did something to him. I threatened him and nicked it from him.”

“Nicked it? What’s that?”

“It’s like… I robbed him.” Ella, who spoke of something Xyle couldn’t have even imagined as the answer, made a bright smile.
